Pezzi in Basic Flying School at Greenville, MS. – In an e-mail sent Sun, 2 Apr 2017 3:13:13 PM -0700 [PDT], Tav wrote: “From there, we were sent to Advanced Flying School where they hung an extra motor on the flying machine thereby complicating the problem of landing and taking off, a problem which Orville & Wilbur never had to solve.”

1385On the roster of band members (pg. 74) the first coronet is Lester Remsen. The first harpist is Dorothy Spencer who later married Lester. They celebrated their 65th anniversary shortly before his death in 2007. She died in 2010. Not only did i see them every so often in Los Angeles but once, in 1969, in Honolulu at the Music Educator’s National Convention.
Also on the roster is “Edward” Halgedahl who was playing third bassoon and doubling on contra. Diana (in the 1940s) and i (from 1967-71) knew him as Howard Halgedahl. He studied for a number of years with Diana’s father and, many years later, he was conductor of the High School Symphony at Interlochen.
1386 The three glyphs on the plate say “Shabbat”, which translate to Sabbath. They are also the last three glyphs on the knife handle which translate to Holy Sabbath so they (along with the pictographs within each glyph on the plate) signify the holy bread, or challah.
Because of Diana’s education at Nazareth Academy and her Arch-Bishop great-grandfather — to say nothing of her enjoyment of cooking and baking — this retirement gift was selected for her as a form of hat-tip to the “Bread of Life” (Book of John).
