GraceNotes

In late 2000 or early 2001 Diana heard a brief snippet of some CNN or PBS political talk show where an opinion monger cited some oratory by out-going NY Mayor, Rudy Giuliani, saying he ended his tenure "on a grace note." Because English was a second language for Diana, misuse of terms always "rubbed her the wrong way."

Explaining this to a neighbor, Diana told how the simple definition of a grace note she remembered from her own youth was "the 'ta' of 'ta-DA!'" and that what the editorial writer really meant was "on a graceful note."

Unlike the pieces in the PDF Documents section of this website, mostly written by Diana, these are shorter vignettes compiled from memories of stories she told to explain events or interactions of folks in some of the photos she kept.
