Affa!
Somehow i can’t remember the name of the artist who rendered the oil paintings of you lighting up and Diana from the black-and-white prints. Was he a family friend or someone who your parents were referred to by others? i feel so stoopid for the memory lapse as Diana had mentioned the name many times over the years.

Affa, again!
Thank you for reminding me of the name Forgione.
1. Do you remember approximately what year those photos were taken? and
2. Was Mr. Forgione a close family friend or just someone who folks in need of photo-to-oil painting would go to?
Thanks so much.

He was not our family friend, but I believe the family of Julius and Elisa Morocco steered my mother onto him. So our mother just commissioned him as needed.
Julius Morocco was a shoe designer for the E.P. Reid Shoe factory. He designed shoes for our mother because her feet required special shoes for better comfort. My best guess as to year would be 1939-1940.
Julius and Elisa had 3 sons (Thomas, Carl, Ralph). It was thought that Diana, age of about 19 at that time, and Ralph would someday go out together, but that never happened.
Ralph was in his early 20’s at that time and had started a home business of marketing “Pop Chips” (fry up at home, bag and sell). He was one of the first to be drafted which started about then. He was in the service for only two weeks when he passed away from Walking Pneumonia (whatever that iz (sp.)). He was initially stationed at Niagara Falls, lived in a tent, took sick, and died.

Affa!
While i can’t remember all the specifics of every story, Diana tollllllllllld Winnie once about growing up in Rochester, the dinners and other get-togethers with the Passsante, Paxhia and Morocco (Clover-o) families. She mentioned the night (perhaps some April Fool’s Day?) Ralph M and she encountered each other unexpectedly (i know Starbucks didn’t exist yet) and concocted the idea for a joke that they’d just come back from Niagara Falls where they eloped. They let the parental quartet hyperventilate for a few minutes before putting them out of their misery.
Shortly after Diana and i moved from Washington, DC, to LA, she had me try phoning Tommy M who then lived a few miles away in Beverly Hills. His wife answered and said he was in Italy for a few more weeks. The next time Diana tried finding out about him was a decade or so ago when she googled him and found his obit from 1999.
